1000 origami cranes for Julia and Karsten

Today we show you the beautiful wedding of Julia and Karsten full of things in orange, origami cranes and a couple in love.

1000 cranes means luck, health, wisdom and trust in Japan. That is why this symbol is often used for wedding presents. Julia and Karsten chose the origami crane as their wedding theme and the goal was to get 1000 cranes on the day. Julia and her mother already folded many hundreds of origami cranes for decoration of the tables and for the name boards of the guests. Literally everywhere was a small or big origami crane seen which really impressed me. Even more impressed have I been by the guests. In the wedding invitation was an explanation to fold an origami crane and a sheet of paper. The guests didn’t only bring that one crane they even decorated their presents with cranes. I didn’t find the time to count the cranes but I am sure there have been more then 1000.

I already had the pleasure to photograph Julia and Karsten during their engagement session. Celebrating their big wedding in the church of Wolbeck, Münster was the highest point of one and a half years of wedding planning. The day was filled with love and laughter and surprises especially from the bride for the groom. At the end of the ceremony he expected their planned song to play to leave the church. What happened was that a choir of their friends started singing „All you need is love“ which surprised and overwhelmed him. Julia and Karsten found in each other their soulmate and that is what they wanted everybody to know. This little quote was written on a card laying on every napkin.

„We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.“
— Dr. Seuss

„We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.“
