Dreaming of Paris

I wrote down a list with personal goals for this year. Shooting in Paris was one of them. Making it happen was a total dream come true. Photographing for four days with fabulous clients and doing a styled shoot with fantastic vendors was something I never dared to imagine. Here is part one of the Paris series. Read more

A classic autumn wedding in Münster | Lydia & Peter

Lydia and Peter tied the knot at the end of September last years. It was one of those days where you are not sure if it is still summer or already autumn and the nature starts to turn their colors. It has been a beautiful day with a ceremony at the Lotharinger Kloster and the celebration at the Sudmühlenhof in Münster. When I first met Lydia and Peter we spent a whole evening drinking tea and chatting about photography and Münster. Being true lovers of the city of Münster they both drive by bike everywhere they go and even spend more than one hour in the train to get to work. Read more

Mother’s day

I am a story teller and I do not only tell my own story but above all I tell love stories with my camera. I short while ago I had the pleasure to photograph Mareike, Kristina and her mother Hedwig in my little studio. It was a glamorous and fun day and I loved the interaction and love that happend between the three women.

As the love between mother and daughter is always something special I want to share with you a letter from Mareike and Kristina about their mother.

“Like for almost all children our mum is the best mum in the whole world. But what does make our mum so special and irreplaceable ? I already have 1000 things and characteristics in my mind that would describe her and why she is so special.  Read more

A first time – one of my pictures on the cover of a magazine

There is a first time for everything. There are first times where you learn something, first times that make you nervous, first times that don’t make you want a second time, first times that make you want to think why it took you so long, first times that just surprise you but there is one thing you never forget – a first time. A Mediteranean Wedding in Overveen | Bapke & Niels

Sometimes you can wear your winter jacket on a cold April day and still feel a Mediterranean atmosphere. It was a chilly day last Saturday but the spring sun already warmed up the beautiful Orangerie Elswout in Overveen. When I first saw that location I was totally in love with it but spending the whole day here was definitely a treat. Bapke and Niels met 10 years ago at the gym. She took the first step by inviting him to join her during a sport class. They became soon a couple but Bapke had planned to spend the summer in Greece in the house of her parents, as she does every summer. This summer had been filled with old fashioned letters, SMS and sometimes a phone call and in the end Niels came over to Greece to join her for the last weeks in the Greek sun. Read more

A print stays longer

Can I just get a CD ? This is a discussion clients always start. What are you doing with the images then ? Is my answer. Modern technical media allow us to share images in clouds and on social media. They help us conserve the images in a digital space that is immune to fire and thunderstorms. We have iPads and iPhones to look at the images and swipe through events and moments. I am a huge fan of this development but there is something about a print that makes it different from a swiping finger on a glossy screen. Read more

A piece of my heart…

When I came to France for the first time I was a kid and opposing to my brother and the other children that were on the same campsite I tried to learn the language with a little yellow translation book. I went every morning to buy baguette and croissants  for our family and was beyond proud that I could do all of that in French.

When I came to France the second time I stayed for the whole summer. I visited the cousin of my aunt who had my age. I spent some weeks with her in France and she spent some weeks with me in Germany to learn each other’s languages. Read more

I sing you a lovesong … | Dinah & Christoph

Dinah booked me 1,5 years before their wedding with the words “I so want to book you for my wedding day. I was looking at your website even before he proposed and just waited for the proposal to contact you.”

How can I not be more than thrilled to photograph a wedding of a couple that is so enthusiastic about my work. They got married in September last year – it was not the most beautiful day of the year in fact it was even raining a little. But Dinah and Christoph couldn’t care less – they were getting married and that was everything that counted on their day. Read more
