Wine and Cheese evening | Bucket-before-30-list

It was summer 2002, I just turned 18 years old and we went on our first little vacation. We booked a tiny apartment in Hamburg to just have a little time for ourselves. We were young and there was no money to waste so we lived on canned ravioli and cheap wine. Back then it was the best accommodation and food I could have imagined as it didn’t matter at all what we ate as long as we were together everything was perfect. This one evening we decided to buy some cheese and wine leave our little apartment and go to the „Alster“ which is a lake in the centre of Hamburg. We sat down in the grass opened the bottle and cut the cheese and enjoyed the evening breeze at the water. Right when we lifted up our glasses to toast to the beautiful evening we saw the lights that illuminated on the other side of the water and a jazz band started playing. It was apparently a concert or a private event in the garden of one of the houses that lay by the water right on the other side. It was one of those magic moments that you never forget and that are just made for love stories like ours. The wine and cheese evenings were born and till today we love buying some French cheese and wine (better than 12 years ago) and just enjoy a nice summer evening. This is how one evening became a nice tradition for us and we always remember that magic moment when the jazz band started to play.
