Home made Sushi |Bucket-before-30-list

What I am seeing with my „Bucket-before-30-list“ is that since I wrote those things down I try really to accomplish them. So after visiting the Andreas Feininger exhibition last week we took the chance yesterday to prepare some fresh home made sushi. Since we live in a village we don’t have fresh good fish every day. On Tuesdays and Fridays there is fresh fish on the local market so we can only make sushi on those two days.

I love the process of preparing everything for the maki rolls and to really build them. As you know cooking together is one of our favourite things to do when we have some time for it and sushi especially as you can a beautiful result in the end. When we lived in Holland we went out to a Japanese restaurant more often as it was close by and the sushi was just super delicious but now enjoying our village life we just decided to teach ourselves how to make some nice maki rolls as there is no restaurant close by.

Here are the ingredients of our different inside-out-rolls:

– fresh salmon/ cumcumber/ creme cheese/ avocado

– fresh salmon marinated in terriaky sauce for an hour/ cumcumber/ avocado

– canned tuna/ chives/ green onion/ some mayonaise to make it a nice cream and some chinese spices to give it a nice asian flavour

As a base we always start either with a bit of mayonnaise in each roll or with or horseradish if you like to have it a bit more spicy. Wasabi is nice to add to each roll, just watch out how much you add ;-)
