A traditional wedding in Cuijk | Leonora & Simon
Leonora and Simon got married in June this year in the city Cuijk which is close to Nijmegen. Their day started traditionally for both at their parents houses. When I arrived at her parent’s home I was welcomed by a big open hearted family. Leonora and her twin sister where upstairs getting ready while the family arrived at the living room waiting for the bride and groom to meet for the first time. Both their families have origins in the Molucca Islands and classic tradition played an important role during the day. The house filled slowly with people chatting and laughing all waiting for the bride and groom. It was a beautiful atmosphere when the groom arrived to be welcomed by the uncle of the bride. He was standing in a circle of his and Leonora’s family when she came down the stairs to see her groom for the first time this day. The father of the bride started praying to God to ask for his blessings for the bridal couple in which both families joined him. The atmosphere even shifted from laughter to love as the whole family prayed together for two young people in love.
Family, praying and love where the three main words that everybody could feel that day.
Leonora and Simon thank you so much for letting us capture and share this day with you and your families. We wish you all the best and love for your joined future.
